The Child Development Center of First Presbyterian Church is committed to assisting children as they grow and develop as Jesus did: Luke 22:52 “..... in wisdom, in stature, and in favor with God and man”- intellectually, physically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally.  In a nurturing Christian environment we provide a positive experience as we support the development of each child to his or her greatest potential.  Programs include Children’s Day Out for infants through four-year-olds and  Preschool for three-and four-year-olds.

Children’s Day Out operates September through May on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Classes are held from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM with an option of leaving children until 4:00 PM.  Extended day classes for children who attend First Presbyterian Preschool are offered from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. or 4:00 PM.

The Children’s Day Out Program provides the child an environment of Christian love which fosters guided play and exploration of the child’s world.  A curriculum of care and development is designed to meet the needs of each age level.  A learning centers approach is used to provide meaningful experiences and to emphasize unit themes.  Children are exposed to Bible stories, and teachers use Bible thoughts throughout the day as the children work and play.  Three-and four-year-olds attend weekly chapel.  Each school day a music teacher visits all age levels, including babies and toddlers.  Spanish is provided weekly for four-year-olds and begins for three-year-olds in January of the school year.  Guests are invited to share resources with the children throughout the year, and field trips are planned for three-and four-year-olds.

The Preschool Program offers classes on Tuesday/Thursday or Tuesday/Thursday/Friday.  Classes are held from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM.  On Tuesdays and Thursdays the children may bring their lunch and stay until 2:00 or 4:00 PM in the Children's Day Out Program.

The Preschool Program encourages children to discover and learn at their own pace in a learning centers approach.  Units are prepared for the children so that learning is sequential.  We provide learning experiences in the form of creating, of drama, and of guided play.  Music is offered to each class once a week and Spanish is offered once a week for four-year-old children and second semester for our three-year-old children.  Field trips are planned to enhance the children's learning experience.  The stories of Jesus and our Biblical fathers and mothers are experienced in children's chapel and in class in word and song.
