The Bridge

The Bridge is an ancient/future worship experience at the First Presbyterian Church in Midland, Texas each Sunday morning at 11 am in the Chapel. Our desire is to engage God's ancient words in new ways, all for the purpose of entering deeper into the presence of God.

In the simplest terms our goal at the Bridge is to retain the best of our past, include the best of our present, and do our best to anticipate our best future. This is no small thing, and we’re still working on it, but the greatest thing about the Bridge is the willingness of its congregation to engage each other and the service. Certainly it is a relaxed/come as you are setting but it never loses a sense of awe and adoration for Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. The music covers a broad range from full on rock band to sweet and tender acoustic. The scriptures are read by members of the congregation, mostly our young people. Our five pastors rotate into the service which helps to keep the messages fresh and relevant without losing our connection to the church as a whole. A main focal point every Sunday morning is Communion and it is around this sacred time that every other part of the service hinges. Being reminded weekly of Christ’s great gift settles us and refocuses us toward “loving and leading all people to deeper life in Jesus Christ.
