The Ministry of Congregational Life seeks to build fellowship and community among our church family through church-wide activities and retreats. These events provide opportunities to meet and get to know one another in informal settings. At the annual Round the Table Carol Sing we wear crazy Christmas hats and sweaters, sing carols and holiday favorites and joyfully celebrate the birth of our Savior. In the Spring, we move outside for our Church Picnic where we feast on catfish and chips while the children play traditional lawn games (think “three-legged race”) and ride ponies. In October we gather for the Fall Festival complete with costumes, games and prizes, a cake walk, and lots of food…sausage, chili, popcorn, and cotton candy. When the weather turns warm, we escape to the cool waters of the swimming pool at Washington Park featuring the best water slide in west Texas. In May, golfers of all ages and abilities meet at the links for a friendly round at the FPC Golf Tournament. Both women and men have the opportunity to deepen their relationships to Christ and one another at our Men’s Retreat and Women’s Retreat. Away together for a weekend, we pray, study, share and reflect on what it means to be disciples of Jesus. There we are refreshed and renewed in our life of faith. Building community involves all of us: young and old, men and women, girls and boys--we are the Body of Jesus Christ, knit together by the Holy Spirit.
