Water Wells

Providing clean, life-saving water to the people of Uganda.

"It’s such a blessing to witness firsthand Ramon’s legacy of bringing clean, safe water to the people of Uganda”

Darren Simpkins

History of the Ministry

The Water Well Ministry of First Presbyterian Church, Midland, Texas began in 2007. On a mission trip to Uganda a couple of years earlier, God brought the need for clean water to the attention of Ramon Billhimer. She was determined to respond and the Water Well Ministry was born. Over the years, Ramon and her husband, Bob, managed the ministry. Through spring box wells and borehole wells, over 900 projects have been completed, providing clean water to well over 4 million people in Uganda. Ramon became ill and passed away in 2024 while on a her eighteenth trip to visit wells in Uganda, but the Water Well Ministry continues with Bob and a team of people who are committed to continuing this vital outreach.
